Since tomorrow is Sara's birthday, I'm sure hoping that some "on-the-day" pictures will be posted here (or Nora's World) of the Birthday Girl...please, please, please. S&H, your comments on my blog cracked me up.

Signing Time

Sorry two posts in a day, but I'm excited about this. I've told most of you about the videos we check out from the library called Signing Time. Well, they now put them on TV. I checked and they get it in both CA and UT, so you guys should watch it at least once or twice with your kids. Danny, you could Tivo (or whatever it is now) some for Agnes when she comes! Go to signingtime.com and then click on television schedule at the top and you'll find it. We really like it and it's the only thing on tv that Agnes will actually sit down and watch (though I've been trying to get her interested in Sesame Street this week).

Art

I had to get Mom's depressing post off the top of the screen, so here's another naked picture for you. But with good reason, as you can see. Whenever I ask Agnes what she wants to do these days, she says, "Art! Yeah!"

Glassy eyes, red nose

Innocently enough, I read Stacey Walk's blog this morning. April had posted a linking blog regarding a spider story that Stacey had written which talked about a huuuuge spider that was in this lady's bedroom (poor spider, it only had 7 legs- what could she be so afraid of?). April said it was a sad blog and that maybe Stacey should only read the one story about the spider. Letting curiousity get the better of me, I started reading some of the other blogs about the lady with the gynormous spider story.
Evidently, I had not taken April's warning seriously enough, and should not have started reading these blogs at work. I'm sure the patients who are coming in are wondering what my problem is and why I look such a wreck. I haven't used up the entire box of tissue yet, but that's because I occasionally stop reading to do a little office work (I know, you're all surprised at that statement- that I indeed have some work that I do).
Just let me say that I love each one of my precious children and that you mean more than the world to me. My grandchildren are the highlight of my life and I love them more than I can describe. Not to be overly mushy, I just want you to know how much you all mean to me.
If you want to appreciate your kids more, even when they're cranky for days, maybe try reading some of Sheye's stories about Ava.
Keep my little lambs safe. They are SO precious. Click on the page; it will magnify so you can read it more easily.

I should ask permission first...

...but I'm not going to. I found Danny's journal from when he was four years old. I thought I would publish one page of it because it is so cute.
Nov. 21, 1988
"I found $5 at Fedco in the parking lot. I felt happy. I was walking with Samuel and I said 'Samuel look, I found $5!'
"We went inside and I bought a not good GI Joe guy. We can never find his stuff, like his breathing hose.
"After we were done at Fedco we went to Toys R Us. I went to the Nintendo games with Samuel and I said 'Samuel, Samuel, I found Link!' That is the game my dad has been waiting for since January."
(picture of 2 people and a lot of lines all around and through it)
"This is a monster Dad has to fight on Adventures of Link. He has to get his Link out of the screen to fight him."

I wish there were more entries. There are only seven.

I also found one of Danny's teeth in an envelope. Do you want me to mail it to you Danny? I don't know why I have it instead of the tooth fairy.

Milk

This is what happens when you breast feed your child until they are 20 months old.

Our conversation:
"Agnes, what's your baby doing?"
"Milk."
"Oh, she's having milk."
"Yes!"

Maybe I should tell her that milk comes from nipples

A crazy dream

This morning I had a dream that Laura and Agnes were at my house (because I'm getting so excited for them to be here!). Laura was in the room with me and I asked her where Agnes was. She gave me some lame story about how Karen picked them up from the airport and how I didn't get to have the babies (meaning Agnes and Caleb) every single day. Instantly though, Agnes showed up. She had a little cold. Agnes said "Kenny Chesney." I wondered why she said that. I asked Laura why Agnes would say Kenny Chesney. She explained that Kenny always wore a kerchief around his neck and because Agnes had a cold, she wanted a handkerchief to wipe her nose.
After that, Agnes and I went in my backyard. The backyard had become much larger than I remembered it. In fact, there was a whole new area behind the regular area which had another swingset there. Agnes was swinging on the swing, which was more like a swing on a single rope than a regular swing, and she got all muddy. She came to me and said "Nana, Nana, Nana." I picked her up (yes, now I was all muddy) and then the dream was over (except for the part where the next door neighbor had suddenly addopted about 14 kids, mostly teenagers, who were all in his backyard making all kinds of noise).
Probably not blog-worthy, but I thought it was interesting that Agnes could say Kenny Chesney. I talked to Laura this morning and she asked Agnes to say it, but she just shook her head and said "no."

Dibs or D.I.?

Does anyone want the glass cookie jar with painted holiday lids that you all grew up with? I'm thinking I will probably send it off to D.I. if no one out there wants it. Some of the lids are so cute, and others are so-so. My favorite is the Halloween lid. Then there's the time that I stopped at the corner of Riverside and Pipeline after church, because Bill Hines was selling some of Brenda's stuff. Even though I took the lid home that day, I paid Brenda the money the next day so I didn't technically feel like I was buying it on Sunday. However, there were some of my children that never liked or wanted me to use that lid because they felt it was still bought on Sunday. I'd add pictures, but my camera is at work. Anyway, anyone interested?

Coming out

Nick, Agnes and I will be flying into Burbank (we're trying out Skybus which only flies to Burbank, but since the tickets were REALLY cheap, it's worth it) on February 6th. Then we'll get the car from Grandpa and drive up to Utah. We'll probably stop in St George and see Kate for a few hours. Then Nick will drive home and Agnes and I will stay in Utah until the 20th (notice it's the day before her second birthday. That is not a coincidence). That's all we know so far. Start planning accordingly.

Hooray for the magic!

Thank you, Brandon, for figuring out my wireless problems and making it so I can have internet floating magically throughout my house. It's awesome to be able to check my email, etc. while hanging out at home instead of using my work time to do it. Geez, does that mean that now I have to actually work while I'm at work? I've tried that for the last 2 days and I don't like it all that much!

Playing Games

I am seriously a master at playing games. Board games. Video games. Athletic games. I'm good. Really good.

We have people over to our house all the time to play games (while Caleb slumbers pleasantly upstairs). In an effort to make friends, and even more so, so that they'll come back again, I have to downscale a little. Not play to my full extent. Sometimes, I even try to lose on purpose. Which isn't really all that fun, especially when half the time, I win anyway.

Tonight, we had my visiting teacher and her husband over for games. I won. Both games. (We played Harry Potter Scene It and Scattergories.) I figured my visiting teacher has to like me, solely because she's my VT. Plus, she's a super sweet girl, so that helps. It was nice not to hold back. Although, I did feel a little bad when I won Scattergories too (and this was after six rounds -- and I won by a LOT).

I figure, if there's anyone that could actually beat me at a game, it's probably one of my siblings. I don't know what Mom and Dad fed us as kids...maybe they spiked our water with some super genius growth hormone or something.

--Although, in all fairness, I played Nerts with a bunch of people on New Year's eve and one of the girls was seriously good. I was planning on my usual pretend to play, but actually take it easy on everyone method, but had to step up my game once I realized how good she was. The others though...(Brandon didn't play nerts with us.)
