Sara has a bit of a cold and a prodigious runny nose. As I pulled her out of the car at church this morning, I asked her if she was a "boogernose." She said, "I think I am!" What great metacognitive skills!

Lost and Found
By
Laura Read
My daughter has been missing for the last seven weeks. Good news. We found her. Apparently we left the monster imposter child in Utah because ever since we've been with Daddy, our real daughter has returned.

Stuff Sara Says 5

On our way home from Sam's Club, we had a cup of Powerade that the girls were sharing. Well, I say sharing, but it wasn't really voluntary sharing, more like "GIVE IT TO HER NOW!!!" sharing. In order to facilitate the turn taking, we made Nora count to 15 (or 30, or once she went all the way to 60) and then she got the cup and Sara "counted." Later today, we were on our way to Smart & Final and Nora was looking at a book that Sara wanted. First she said, "Sara turn. I need it!" Then, remembering the system from this morning, she shouts, "One, Two, Three! Give it to me!" I laughed out loud for at least a minute.

Dollar Amount
By

I was having a conversation with Karen today about what was an appropriate amount of money to spend on birthday and Christmas gifts for both kids and grandkids. What is your opinion?

Stuff Sara Says Part 4

We went to the zoo yesterday and it was NASTY hot and humid. On the walk out from the zoo to the car, Sara fell asleep in the stroller and then, surprisingly, made the transfer into the car, still asleep. Nora fell asleep shortly thereafter, so Holly and I decided to stop somewhere and get a shake. Not because they have the best shakes, but because I knew where one was and how to get there, we hit In-N-Out. The line moved slowly, but the kids were asleep and sleeping is good so it didn't bug me too much. Then we hit the window where little miss perky'n'loud gave us our order: cheeseburger, strawberry shake, chocolate shake. We paid and as I pulled away, I heard a tiny little mouse voice say, "Chocolate shake?" I looked at Holly and asked, "Did I just hear a mouse?" Again, slightly more insistently this time, "Chocolate shake!" Holly gave her the shake, and didn't get it back! Whenever Holly would ask for it, Sara all but shouted, "Sara Chocolate Shake!" and then held it just out of Holly's reach. When Holly finally got the cup back, it was half-empty!
