Sunday afternoon, while Nora was still napping, Sara woke up and came downstairs. We were reading Eric Carle's Pancakes, Pancakes when we came to a page describing how to make the batter. I read it to her and she pointed at the picture of pouring milk and said, "Eggs." "No, Mouse, that's milk." She pointed to the picture of adding flour and asked, "Milk?" "No, that's flour." Then she took two great big sniffs and said, "Flower!" Chuckling, I said, "No, baby, that's the wrong flour." She looked at me incredulously (I didn't know 1 1/2 year olds could be incredulous) and said, "No, no, Daddy. Right flower!"

Danny is in TN
Uhhh, the title pretty much says it all. He called yesterday and said he made it to TN. I'd tell you more about our phone conversation, but it was Danny. I've already told you everything.

She loves her sister
At some point in the Wednesday to Thursday nighttime, Nora came in our room because she needed a drink and her room was too dark. (Isn't dark considered a plus at nighttime?) She ended up sleeping on the floor next to my side of the bed. When she woke up, entirely too early in my opinion, she must have been in the middle of a dream because she was crying uncontrollably. It woke Sara up and she toddled into our room, asking in a supremely concerned voice, "Nora? Crying? Nora crying? Nora?" She came around and gave her sister a hug. Nora didn't stop crying, but it was a sweet little moment. I probably would have appreciated it more if I hadn't been so tired. It hasn't been a good week for sleeping.

Photo Shoot
I'm trying (with Karen's help) to put together a photo session when I'll have all my grandbabies here. This is what we have at this point and I need some input before I can continue making plans.
I've contacted a professional photographer (please don't scoff yet) who is available August 2-4. She says she prefers to shoot in the evenings because the lighting is better. I would be paying for 1-2 hours of her time and we could attempt to get pictures of all the kids together, and then take some family groups too. We're going to have to locate a cool (as in neato, but maybe as in temperature as well) outdoor spot to take the pictures.
We also thought it would be very fun if the grandkids all wore tie-dye t-shirts, which we would make (or I can make). Then for example, for Samuel's family, Nora could wear a purple (or pink) shirt, Sara could wear a red one and then Holly can wear a plain solid purple (or pink) shirt and SJ can wear a solid red one. Now are you scoffing? Don't scoff! Karen and I thought it would be so cool.
Leah said Aug 4 was good for her, but I know that SJ and fam have planned something for that time period already (since she said evenings work best). Just wondering if that was at all flexible? Or how is Saturday evening?
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

The Ba ba ba song

I had the most wonderful phone call from Agnes today. We chat on the phone frequently and she's always so cute, but today was extra cute. At one point, she was singing a song to me, which she does all the time, but usually it's a real song with words like Happy Birthday. Today's song went like this (you can use any tune you'd like since the tune she used was random) "Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba."
I asked Agnes what song that was and she said it was the Ba-ba-ba song. Like, "duh, weren't you listening to the lyrics?" I laughed till I cried. It was a great relief to the lame morning I'd been having up to that point so I was grateful for my little Agnes for brightening my day. Thank you my sweet girl for the terrific phone call today.
